Several
studies, including one published by P.D. Darbre in a 2003 issue of the
"Journal of Applied Toxicology," suggest a link between underarm
deodorants and breast cancer. Many commercial brands contain varying amounts of
parabens, which has been found in cancerous breast tissue. While a conclusive
link between breast cancer and deodorants has not yet been found, making your
own from vegetable glycerin is safe, inexpensive and effective.
If you prefer a floral scent,
substitute lavender oil for the tea tree oil. Both have antiseptic properties
that help neutralize odors.
· You
can substitute filtered water for mineral water, if necessary.
